Slice 1 - Pt.2 Fire*power

As mentioned in Slice 1 - Pt.1, there is another model for this stage of the project that takes a big chunk of inspiration from the 2nd edition 40k box art, and that is the special weapons operative with flamer (fire power, get it? LOL)

One of the more interesting little background details from the 2nd edition 40k box art was the embelishments to the flamer weilding marines armour.  No standard codex compliance here, instead the marine has adorned his pauldrons with sheets of white flame markings, and added red flame details to the muzzle of his flamer. These little details are all over early 90's 40k art but not something that carried forward, although it is becoming a little more common with some of the art done for the new Primaris range.

I just had to paint up a marine with these details and when better than as part of the first squad of the company. Minor changes were required to fit my narrative, specifically switching him to first squad rather than the original 4th squad designation shown in the art (on the wrong knee too i note, obviously this piece was painted in a stylised form by a imperial remembrancer who was more interested in recording the general event than getting all the details right).

As I am writing this having just finished the squad here is an image of the completed model for comparison vs the original art. Enjoy.
