Time to muster - Angels of Death

With a test of painting complete for October it is time to muster the first army for the Second War for Armageddon, the Blood Angels.

As with October I plan to enter, or at least paint along with, another Instagram challenge for the next phase of the Blood Angels army. This time its the 40k 2nd Edition Army Challenge 3, where participants paint 2nd edition 1000points in 6 months, documenting their progress. Ive followed previous editions of this challenge and been amazed by the models people paint, so hopefully I can add my own to the tally.

The Trial - A Venerable Ancient

As mentioned in the Introduction I hope to build and paint models inspired by the 40k 2nd edition box set and the Second War for Armageddon narrative. What better place to start than with the primary subjects of that box, the Blood Angels. Having a few models already and a few more from ebay I was able to put together a great potential force worthy of a 10 year old me's dream.. But before I committed to building and painting my planned forces, and then committing that process to a blog, I thought it best to do a test to see if I could actually achieve the style and painting standard I wanted to reach.

I needed a challenge and what I stumbled upon was a painting challenge on Instagram named #dreadtober (and compiled on a blog by the creator 'm4cr0dutch') to build and paint a Dreadnought in a month (October).  What better starting point for my 2nd edition force than that the Venerable Ancient walking coffin, and a huge chunk of metal in both the lore and the hand.

Introduction - Battle for Armageddon

In the early 90's I was introduced to Games Workshop and Warhammer through playing a school friends older brothers new game, Space Hulk. Being only 8 or 9 at the time I was amazed by the cool models. Move forward to October 1993 and the release of 2nd Edition Warhammer 40,000 and my little 10 year old mind was blown. Over the next few years I collected small forces from a range of Games Workshop games but 40k was always my favourite.

40k2ndACIII Month 4 - Heavy Metal

March was the biggest month in my plan, 2 vehicles. In words not so much, but the preparation, sub assemblies and amount of detail was even ...
